Woman beaten, stabbed by partner

A 26-year-old woman is in a critical condition at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) after she was beaten and stabbed multiple times by her 49-year-old boyfriend on Sunday.
Police Headquarters reported that the incident occurred around 12:30hrs at the woman’s Parfaite Harmonie, West Bank Demerara (WBD) home; police are now hunting for the suspect, whose car was found abandoned at Canal Number One conservancy, WBD.
Police said that the suspect visited the woman’s house during which an argument ensued; it escalated and the man reportedly cuffed and stabbed her multiple times, causing the knife to be stuck in her abdomen.
The man escaped while neighbours were alerted. The woman was taken to the West Demerara Regional Hospital in an unconscious state and later transferred to the GPHC.
