GUYANA produced a spirited performance against Canada and Uruguay, but the Philip Fernandes-coached side end their campaign in the 2021 Indoor Pan Am Women’s Hockey Championship in Spring City, Pennsylvania, without a win.
After going down 20-2 to the USA and 14-0 against Argentina on the tournament’s opening day, the Guyanese women returned to the arena in high spirits, as the young team, despite playing two-players short owing to COVID-19 and injuries, performed to the satisfaction of their coach.

Playing against Canada, Guyana went down 13-0 after trailing 5-0 at halftime.
Against Uruguay, Guyana matched strides well with their South American counterparts, but after holding on 2-0 at halftime, the Guyanese ladies fell 7-1 at the sound of the final buzzer.
Marzana Fiedtkou scored in the 24th minute; Constanza Barrandeguy scored three, while Camila Piazza (two), Camila De Maria and Maria Correa accounted for the other goals for Uruguay.
Abosaide Cadogan, who scored twice for Guyana in their 20-2 defeat against the Americans, joins Marzana Fiedtkou as the only ‘GT’ players to find the back of the net in the tournament.
