SHELDON Wilson, 36, of Hand-en-veldt, Mahaica, East Coast Demerara, died on Tuesday when the truck he was driving tilted into the river at John Fernandes Wharf, Water Street, Georgetown.

Police said that Wilson was the driver of motor truck, GNN 7207, and, on the aforementioned day, he visited the wharf to collect feed from a boat.
After collecting the feed, police said they were told that Wilson began driving, but the truck rolled over the rails on the wharf and into the river.
Several persons jumped into the river to rescue Wilson, who was eventually taken out by a labourer from John Fernandes Wharf and rushed to the St Joseph Mercy Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Police are investigating the incident.
