A Better Hope, East Coast Demerara landlord, on Sunday, allegedly set fire to his house to force a tenant out of the building.
Reports indicated that the 50-year-old landlord reportedly set his room on fire, due to a conflict between himself and his tenant.

Further enquiries revealed that the landlord had served his female tenant a lawyer’s letter to remove from the premises and she failed to comply.

Police said that on Sunday, around 19:00hrs, the tenant and her children were selling food when they observed smoke emanating from the house.

They claimed that they saw the landlord running from the house into the neighbour’s yard. The fire department was summoned and managed to put out the fire. Investigations continue.
