THE body of 83-year-old Maud Agatha of Smythfield, New Amsterdam, Berbice was on Thursday found lying face down in her house.
Police said the discovery was made around 17:00hrs, and the pensioner was reportedly last seen alive on Sunday, June 6, 2021.
On Thursday, a neighbour called the police complaining of a foul smell emanating from the residence. Upon arrival, ranks made the discovery, but due to the advanced stage of decomposition, they could not say whether or not there were marks of violence on the body.
The body is currently at the Bailey’s Funeral Home awaiting post mortem examination.
