POLICE at an Itaballi checkpoint, inspecting a motor lorry on its way to a place known as “Pappy Show Landing,” on Thursday morning, found a quantity of leaves, seeds and stems, suspected to be cannabis sativa.
The items were wrapped in transparent plastic and concealed in a navy-blue jacket, in the lorry’s tray.
According to police reports, there were five other persons in the tray of the lorry, all of whom were arrested and taken into custody at the Bartica Police Station.
The suspect, a 34-year-old man, who was among of the five persons arrested, eventually admitted ownership of the suspected narcotics.
The narcotics were weighed, and amounted to 517 grams. The suspect is now in custody, pending charges.
