TWO armed motorcycle bandits, on Saturday, shot and robbed a ‘money changer’ of $600,000 cash on America Street and Avenue of the Republic, Georgetown.
Police Headquarters, in a statement, noted that 49-year-old David Wilson was standing on the pavement of America Street when the suspects turned into the Street from Avenue of the Republic and he approached them raising his hands in a gesture to change money.
Police said the bandits stopped and the pillion rider jumped off the motorcycle brandishing a hand gun and demanded the victim hand over the cash in his hands.
Wilson was reluctant and the suspect discharged a round to his upper left leg, after which the victim handed over the cash. The perpetrators made good their escape on the black XR motorcycle that was without number plates.
The victim was rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation where he was treated for the injury.
Investigations are ongoing.
