GTT provides free Internet to humanitarian mission

IN supporting the work of the Humanitarian Mission Guyana Ltd., the Guyana Telephone and Telegraph Company (GTT) has committed to providing free Internet services to the charitable organisation in order for them to resume Online tutoring, as well as conduct its Information Technology (IT) classes.
These classes provided by the organisation benefit a number of learners in the greater Port Mourant area of Region Six (East Berbice-Corentyne).
Secretary and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Mission, Suresh Sugrim said that the mission focuses on the eradication of poverty through education, empowerment and capacity-building. He added that the mission offers a range of skills-based programmes designed to teach individuals how to use their hands to earn and improve their level of independence.
“Through GTT’s generosity, we can give each person another chance to be independent. Here at the Humanitarian Mission-Guyana Inc., we teach the necessary life skills needed for persons to become productive and independent in society. By teaching them professional life skills, we help them to walk away from many social ills. We thank you for supporting our Mission – and in so doing, supporting the individual goals of each person benefitting from our online tutoring and enrolled in our IT program,” Sugrim said.
Chief Marketing Officer of GTT, Orson Ferguson reiterated the company’s committed to supporting the national quest promote learning through online forums, amid the pervasive pandemic.
“Empowering the Humanitarian Mission (Guyana) to restart their online classes and host its IT teaching, fits with our own mission to get through this time together – each doing what we can for the national good and to the benefit of our people,” Ferguson said.
