THE Linden Town Week cycling event which was staged last Sunday saw the top performer Michael Anthony ride in his Foundation Cycling Club’s jersey, powering to the finish line virtually unchallenged, outside Gregory’s Grocery Store on Republic Avenue in the Open Category 15-lap race around the central Mackenzie circuit.
Home-boy Anthony bested the field of cyclists which comprised riders who are from the mining town, relegating Nigel London of Linden Bauxite Flyers into second position, as Andrew Forrester also of Bauxite Flyers taking third spot. Fourth was the unattached cyclist Garfield Lorrimer and fifth position was taken by Christopher Cornelius of Team Evolution.
The Veterans race was captured by Garfield Lorrimer from another unattached cyclist Nigel Codrington. The Females 5-lap tussle was won by Susan Hamilton of Linden Bauxite Flyers with Clivecia Spencer of Team Coco placing second.

The main sponsor of the many trophies and medals, which were presented to the various winners outside the Linden Town Council building, was beverage giant Banks DIH Ltd. The race was organised by the Linden Bauxite Flyers Cycling Club, in collaboration with the Region 10 Tourism Committee, with assistance from the Mayor and Town Council. (Joe Chapman)
