MARINE security has been boosted with the rehabilitation of the Baramani Coast Guard patrol vessel. Minister of Home Affairs, Robeson Benn, and other senior officers of the Guyana Police Force (GPF)) witnessed the deployment of the restored vessel into Guyana’s waters, following a brief inspection at the GPF’s Marine Department at Ruimveldt.
According to a press statement from the GPF, the vessel will be used to boost marine security along the Demerara River and ensure safety and security on the waterways.
The MV Baramani is an enclosed vessel, which will help the Guyana Police Force to increase patrols on the waterways in varying weather conditions. The vessel, which was not operable since 2018, was restored at a cost of $3.7million.
