
THE High Court trial of Rayon Carter, who is accused for fatally shooting a man during a robbery in 2017, commenced on Wednesday, before a 12-member jury.
Carter, formerly of Diamond Housing Scheme, East Bank Demerara, pleaded not guilty to the charge which read that on January 13, 2018, in the county of Demerara, he murdered Ishwar Ramanah called ‘Jack’ during the course or furtherance of a robbery.
Justice Navindra Singh is presiding over the trial at the Demerara High Court. The state is being represented by prosecutor Tiffani Lyken while Carter is being represented by Attorney-at-law Rachael Bakker.
According to reports, Ramanah was shot to his abdomen during a robbery at his Kaneville, East Bank Demerarahome on December 13, 2017.
He was rushed to the Diamond Hospital where he was treated and transferred to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation. He died on January 13,2018.
