POLICE are currently investigating the stabbing of a Hubu Hill, Mabaruma, North West District (NWD) man at a “wake house” in the community on Tuesday.
The injured man has been identified as Micheal Pierre.
According to a police press release, Pierre is currently being treated at the Georgetown Public Hospital after being air-dashed from Mabaruma Regional Hospital.
According to Pierre’s mother, he left to attend a “wake” in the community about 18:30hrs on Tuesday but returned around 22:30hrs with blood gushing from five stab wounds to his upper body, which he claimed were inflicted by a man who was disrespecting his (Pierre’s) girlfriend.
The suspect has since been arrested and a knife believed to be the weapon used to commit the act recovered.
