110 more COVID-19 recoveries

ANOTHER 110 persons have recovered from the COVID-19 virus, while another 25 new cases were recorded as of Thursday, according to the latest statistics provided on the Ministry of Health’s daily COVID-19 Dashboard.
As total of 8,338 cases have been recorded in Guyana to date, of which 7,629 persons have recovered so far, and 189 died as a result of complications with the disease. Of the cases recorded, 4,323 were males and 4,015 were females.
The latest COVID-19 death was recorded on Tuesday, when a 69-year-old woman from Region Four succumbed while receiving treatment at a medical facility. Her death was the 12th thus far this month.

The number of persons in the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit (ICU) has been reduced to seven, down by one from the previous day; 45 persons remain in institutional isolation while 468 persons are in home isolation.
Another 14 persons are in institutional quarantine. An additional 1045 tests were conducted over the last 24-hour cycle. Some 56,902 persons have been tested to date. Region Four (Demerara-Mahaica) continued to accounted for the highest number of cases, recording 20 of the 25 new COVID-19 cases which were logged. Of the other cases, three were from Region Three and Two were from Region One (Barima-Waini).
To date, Region One recorded a total 1019 cases, ranking as the second most affected region in the country. Region Four leads the list, having recorded 3,726 cases to date.

Those two regions are the only ones to have thus far surpassed 1,000 cases.
Surpassing 500 cases are Region Seven, which has 758 cases, Region 10 which has 641 cases and Region Three which has 616 cases.
Health Minister, Dr. Frank Anthony, noted that health authorities are expecting an improvement in the situation in Region Seven in the coming weeks
“In Region Seven the numbers are coming down a bit, but there is still concern about Waramadong. There are a number of cases in that community. My anticipation is that in another couple of days we should start to see a decline there,” Dr. Anthony said on Thursday.
