POLICE are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of an infant of Barima, Kariabo Village, North West District, which occurred on Saturday about 23:00h.
Reports indicated that, on February 9, the mother, Nicola Campbell, took the two-year-old boy home and about 16:00h he developed a high temperature.
According to the police release, Campbell related that on February 13, at about 23:00h, the child’s condition worsened and he was motionless. She rushed him to the Barima Kariabo Health Centre and then to the Mabaruma Regional Hospital, where, at about midnight, he was seen and examined by a doctor and was pronounced dead.
The body is at the hospital mortuary awaiting a post-mortem examination.
