A 23-year-old Linden businessman on Wednesday pleaded guilty to a drug-trafficking charge and was remanded to prison pending a probation report.
Thereafter, Brendal Halley of Canvas City, Linden, will be sentenced by Magistrate Crystal Lambert.
Halley appeared before Magistrate Lambert at the Bartica Magistrate’s Court and admitted that on February 9 at Surinamo Landing, Middle Mazaruni River, he had 1024 grams of cannabis in his possession for the purpose of trafficking.
According to reports, on the day in question, Halley was disembarking a jet boat at Surinamo Landing when he was intercepted by the police and searched. The cannabis was found in a white salt bag which Halley had in his possession.
