180th COVID-19 death recorded

AN 86-year-old male from Region Four is the most recent COVID-19 fatality, the Ministry of Health said in a press release on Friday.
While the Ministry’s COVID-19 dashboard for February 5 does not reflect this death, the total number of COVID-19-related deaths is now 180.
Of the 107 new cases recorded, one was recorded for Region One, two for Region Two, six for Region Three, 29 for Region Four, 68 for Region Seven, and one for Region Eight. No new cases were recorded for Regions Five, Six, Nine and Ten. Currently, five persons are in the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 56 persons are in institutional isolation, 746 persons are in home isolation, and 13 persons are in institutional quarantine.

These figures bring the number of recorded active cases back up to 820. As the number of cases continues to climb, all Guyanese are reminded to observe the protocols of the COVID-19 emergency measures, which are in effect until February 28, 2021. This order emphasises the need for correct and consistent use of a face mask when leaving your home; the importance of maintaining the six feet physical distance from others, and the need for good hand-hygiene to help reduce the spread of COVID-19.
