POLICE are investigating the armed robbery committed against 28-year-old Hanson Forde, a businessman of Zeelugt, East Bank Essequibo, which occurred on Saturday at Eye Lash Backdam Junction, North West District (NWD). Police Headquarters, in a statement, noted that the victim left his grandmother’s home at Heaven Hill, Matthew’s Ridge, (NWD) on his A.T.V enroute to Chi Chi Backdam, and while in the vicinity of Eye Lash Backdam Junction, he was stopped by two males about 04:40hrs. They were both wearing masks; one was armed with a shotgun and the other with a cutlass.
The bandits ordered the businessman to turn off his A.T.V, to which he complied; they removed his haversack from his back, which contained a phone charger valued $5,000, a battery pack valued $6,000 and a flash drive valued $10,000. The suspect, who was armed with the cutlass, then removed the victim’s licensed .32 Taurus Pistol, bearing serial #FHP 37012, with one magazine containing seven matching ammunition valued $198,000; all to a total value of $219, 000.
The suspects then escaped; police investigations are ongoing.
