Taxi driver robbed of car, valuables after hotel pick-up

A 34-year-old taxi driver, Kevin Hope, was, on Tuesday, robbed of his white new model Toyota Premio HC 8929 valued at $3.2M by two unidentified suspects. Police reported that one of the suspects was armed with a hand gun. The bandit robbed Hope of his Samsung cellphone valued $48,000, a jumper wire kit valued $15,000, a Motorola radio set valued $50,000 and $2,000 cash. The incident occurred at about 20:30h at Good Success, East Bank Demerara. According to reports, the male passenger hired the taxi from a hotel in Georgetown about 20:00h to take him to Good Success and upon arrival there, Hope said he was confronted by the two suspects who hit him to the head and discharged one round in the air. He was then ordered to exit the car and the two suspects then entered the vehicle with the passenger inside and drove off in a southern direction. Police investigations are ongoing.
