THE Guyana Telephone and Telegraph Company (GTT) has awarded 17 bursaries to children of its staff who excelled at this year’s National Grade Six Assessment (NGSA).
According to a release, the company, on Monday, hosted a three-part handover ceremony at its Brickdam, Head Office location.
“Every year we award bursaries to children of our employees and every year the number increases. It is a proud moment for GTT and we are happy to give back to our team,” said PR Manager, Jasmin Harris.
“We also look forward to investing in their future on a continuing basis. Once they maintain a 65 per cent annual pass rate, GTT will continue to gift these 17 students every school year,” Harris added.
Parents of those awarded welcomed the yearly initiative and dubbed it as an impetus for their children to maintain good grades throughout their secondary school life. GTT is one of the largest employers in Guyana, the release said.
