FOUR-hundred soldiers and civilian employees drawn from units of the Guyana Defence Force (GDF) were honoured on Friday with monetary incentives at a simple ceremony held at the auditorium of Base Camp Ayanganna.

Staff Officer One, General One (SO1G1), Major Greasels Hinckson indicated that the incentives serve as tokens of appreciation for outstanding performances demonstrated by the ranks and civilian employees who remain committed throughout the year, and would have gone beyond the regular call of duty.

In brief remarks, Chief-of-Staff, Brigadier Godfrey Best congratulated the awardees, and charged them to continue setting high standards. He also reminded them of their value to the Force, as an organisation.

“I encourage you to continue supporting and inspiring each other, and to ensure the safety of yourselves and family members against COVID-19,” Brigadier Best said.
According to the GDF, incentives are awarded annually to boost motivation and foster teamwork.
