AS a result of the COVID-19 restrictions on St Cuthbert’s Mission, Mahaica River, there was a shortage of dry ration which prompted an intervention from the Regional Police Commander and team in the distribution of hampers.

Over the weekend, Commander, Senior Superintendent Khali Pareshram assisted in sharing the hampers while also distributing 300 cloth masks during ‘Operation Covicurb’.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the outbreak in St Cuthbert’s Mission with in excess of 280 cases, the commander noted that a total lockdown was implemented which caused all residents to be on home isolation.

The security in the village, he said, was monitored by the Joint Services through Operation Covicurb and the ranks at the St Cuthbert’s Police Outpost.
Over the weekend, the commander noted that, as a positive measure in giving back to communities in need, the police administration of Regional Division Four “C” and stakeholders assisted with 100 hampers.

These hampers, the senior superintendent said were put together and handed over to Toshao, Beverly Clenkian, and Regional Councillor, Pierre Andrews, at the Council’s office, St Cuthbert’s Mission.

Also in attendance was the division’s welfare officer, woman Assistant Superintendent S. Jupiter, Sub-divisional Officer, Assistant Superintendent M. Alli, and other ranks.
The supplies, the commander noted were to be distributed by the village council to those in urgent need.

Donations, he said were made available from stakeholders, who included A & S General Contractors Inc, GSK Excavating Services, Choke Service Station, Panko Fabrication, Imran Ally and Sons General Hardware and P Ramroop and Sons.

The Ministries of Health and Amerindian Affairs, along with the Civil Defence Commission, are working with the St. Cuthbert’s Mission community to address the impact of COVID-19 there.

The CDC also recently distributed 320 food and sanitation hampers in the community.
