More than 4,000 COVID-19 recoveries

– 88 new cases recorded

A TOTAL of 4,018 persons have recovered locally after being infected with COVID-19, while 88 new cases have been recorded, according to the Ministry of Health.

With these 88 new cases, recorded from 656 tests, Guyana has now recorded 5,093 cases in total. These new cases were recorded from 33 men and 55 women.

The new cases were distributed across Region One (five cases), Region Two (three), Region Three (five cases), Region Four (14 cases), Region Six (35 cases), Region Seven (15 cases), Region Eight (five cases) and Region 10 (six cases).

Overall, there is a 78.9 per cent recovery rate here. The total number of deaths remain at 143, while there are now five persons in the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit (ICU). 79 persons are in institutional isolation, 848 in home isolation, 35 in institutional quarantine.

The updated COVID–19 Emergency Measures (No. Eight) will expire on November 30, 2020, unless earlier terminated, extended or amended by notice of the Minister of Health, after an assessment of the prevailing public health conditions of the pandemic.

As per these measures, all persons are required to wear face masks when leaving their homes. Physical distancing and adequate sanitisation are also important. The curfew is now 22:30 hours to 04:00 hours.
