A Corentyne father of four lost his life, on Tuesday night, after he lost control of his motorcycle and crashed into a parked truck.
Sherwin Murray, popularly known as “Chest,” was on his way to his Bengal, East Berbice, Corentyne home, riding his motorcycle bearing registration, CG 612, when, in the vicinity of Number 47 Village, he reportedly lost control and crashed into the parked truck.
The truck, a green and white Leyland Daf, bearing registration, GNN 9131, was parked on the parapet of the western side of the road a few villages away from where Murray lived.
According to an eyewitness, Javendra Bhajnauth, around 22:05 hrs, he heard the sound of a motorcycle and a moment later he heard a loud crashing noise. Upon investigating, he saw Murray lying on his bike motionless with blood oozing from his head.
“I hear the bike coming fast and then ‘blam!’ When I run out, I see is one a me good friend, ‘Chest’, who used to play cricket with me. It look like he knock he head on the truck and bounce back,” Bhajnauth related.
The injured man was rushed to the Skeldon Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Murray was a popular sports enthusiast on the Corentyne. Members of his family were in a state of shock when the Guyana Chronicle visited their home.
