A man of Laing Avenue, West Ruimveldt, Georgetown, on Thursday, appeared in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court charged with raping his wife.
He was not required to plead to the indictable charge.
Prosecutor Inniss informed the court that the accused and the defendant are reputed husband and wife and share a child. It was further mentioned that, during their time together, distrust became a main issue and was wreaking havoc in their relationship.
The victim would usually accuse her husband of being unfaithful. On Sunday, July 7, there was an altercation between the two about his supposedly unfaithful behaviour. The wife threatened to leave the home and he inflicted several blows about her body which left her with injuries to her head and neck. He then had sex with her without her consent.
The matter was reported to the police, an investigation was conducted and Mars was charged.
Magistrate Sherdel Isaacs – Marcus ordered that Mars be remanded to prison until Monday, November 16, 2020.
