– for series of armed robbery offences
A CORENTYNE gang of misfits was, on Tuesday, remanded to prison on a series of armed robbery charges.
Roopchand Thomas, called ‘Lil Shawn’, 19; and Shawn Thompson, 24, both residents of Rose Hall Town Corentyne, Berbice, were charged jointly with Kelvin Munsie, called ‘Snookey’, 20, and slapped with two counts of armed robbery when they appeared before Magistrate Alex Moore at the Whim Magistrate’s Court.
Particulars of the charges allege that on October 4, at Port Mourant, Corentyne, Berbice, the trio robbed one Soomdat Chattergoon, a 48-year-old security guard, and Mahendra Ramdayal, a 37-year-old canecutter, both residents of Miss Phobe, Port Mourant.
The trio was remanded to prison and the case adjourned until November 10, 2020.
Meanwhile, Thomas and Munsie, along with Joshua Beharry, 20, of Hampshire Village Corentyne, Berbice appeared before Magistrate Rabindranauth Singh at the Albion Magistrate’s Court on two counts of armed robbery.
Particulars of those charges allege that on October 13, while being armed with weapons, the trio robbed Asif Ghani and Nankumar Namoo.
The men were remanded to prison, while that matter, too, was adjourned until November 10, 2020.
