Policewoman, brother charged for ‘ganja’ trafficking, possession of illegal gun

A POLICE Constable and her brother on Monday appeared at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court on ‘ganja’ trafficking and gun charges, but were released on bail.

Both Allecia Daniels and her sibling, Kevin Daniels denied the allegations which were read to them by Magistrate Sherdel Isaacs- Marcus.

The first charge alleged that on October 6, 2020 at the Lamaha Park Squatting Area, here in the city, the duo had in their possession 5.08 kilogrammes of cannabis for the purpose of trafficking.

It is also alleged that on the same date and at the same place, they had in their possession a 20-gauge double-barrel shotgun without being the holder of a licence for the weapon.

Reports are that at 13:00hrs, ranks of the Narcotics Branch carried out a raid at the house in which Daniels and her husband, Jason Carmichael live.
When the police ranks arrived, however, Constable Daniels was not there as she was at work, but her brother was at home in the eastern bedroom of the house where he stays.
During a search of the said bedroom, and in the presence of Kevin and others, a trap door was reportedly discovered, and under it the police found a black plastic bag containing eleven transparent parcels filled with what looked like cannabis, and another black plastic bag containing a 20-gauge double-barrel shotgun.
The siblings were each placed on $75,000 bail for each charge, while the matter has been adjourned to November 2.
