POLICE, acting on information, on Saturday carried out a search at a house in Onderneeming, La Parfait Harmonie, West Bank Demerara (WBD) and found an illegal weapon and a ‘black tope’.
The search followed an arrest of a 23-year-old man the previous night, who was found in another house in Onderneeming, WBD.
Police seized a black. 32 Taurus pistol firearm without serial number and seven matching rounds, along with one black handle knife and one ‘black tope’ in the north western bedroom under a mattress.

Police took possession of the items and escorted the suspect to the La Parfaite Harmonie Police Station as investigations continue.
Meanwhile, on Sunday, policemen, acting upon information received, went to the home of Randy Joseph, 36, called “Buxton” of Lot 64 James Street, Albouystown, who is a known character and while arresting him, he was shot in the leg.
Police said Joseph is wanted for questioning for several robberies and larceny from the person.
“The ranks entered the house, searched same, and found Randy Joseph hiding under a bed. He was told to come out, which he did. Subsequently, as one of the policemen was attempting to restrain Joseph, he held on to the rank and attempted to disarm him of his service revolver and a round when off hitting Joseph on his upper left tight,” police said.
Joseph was afterwards arrested and restrained with the assistance of the other ranks and escorted to the Georgetown Public Hospital where he is currently receiving medical attention.
