ONE of three persons who allegedly hijacked a car in Festival City, South Ruimveldt, Georgetown has been arrested.
The vehicle has since been recovered at La Parfaite Harmonie, on the West Bank Demerara.
The victim, a taxi driver, was recently relieved of his car, PNN 4606, in the vicinity of Hummingbird Street and Blue Mountain Road, Festival City.
The driver has been identified as Hemchandra Hoolas, 40, of Bee Hive Public Road, East Coast Demerara, and according to the police, he was also robbed of cash and cell phone.
Reports indicate that the driver was asked to make a pick up at Pike and Sheriff Streets, Campbellville, to which responded, and upon arrival at the given location, he picked up two men and a woman who requested to be taken to Festival City.
However, while in Festival City, one of the perpetrators pulled out a handgun and ordered him to stop and exit the vehicle, which he did.
They then drove off with his vehicle, making good their escape.
However, acting upon information received, the police visited a location in La Parfaite Harmonie, where they recovered the motor vehicle and arrested one of the suspects.
The alleged perpetrator is in custody, and is assisting police with the investigation.
