A 60-year-old businessman was, on Wednesday, ‘hauled’ before Magistrate Fabayo Azore at the Vigilance Magistrate’s Court, for a firearm-related charge.
Harrielall Motilall called “Jinga Harry”, 60, of lot 11-12 Helena#1, Mahaica, East Coast Demerara, was charged by the police for possession of components of a firearm without being the holder of an appropriate licence, contrary to Section 16(2)(a) of the Firearms Act, Chapter 16:05.
He pleaded not guilty to the charge and was placed on $100,000 bail. His matter was adjourned to October 16, 2020, and was transferred to the Mahaica Magistrate’s Court.

According to reports, Motilall was arrested on September 15 by police.
In 2016, Motilall was sentenced, in absentia, to four years imprisonment for discharging a loaded firearm at Guyana Revenue Authority (GRA) officers.

On July 16, 2014, Motilall, while in the company of others at Airy Hall, Mahaicony, discharged a loaded firearm at Fabian Stuart, Jason Moore, Khemraj Murli and Garfield Scott, with intent to maim, disfigure, disable or cause grievous bodily harm.
