Dear Editor,

I AM a dyed-in-the-wool PNC supporter, and I am bold enough to write the media, in an effort to have my justified or unjustified concerns satisfactorily addressed.
I refer to the Coalition’s nominees to represent us in Parliament.
I appreciate the effort made by the Leader to get gender, age balance, etc, however, in a crisis situation, the party needs our battle-worn warriors to be upfront. They got the guts, and most of all, the commitment and experience.
We all agree that we need open opportunities to give the young people a chance, but not necessarily in the Parliament, and for me, they must produce results working in the trenches before they can get to Parliament.
I cannot understand why the leader opted not to lead the team in Parliament.
These days, it is nonsensical to attempt to lead from behind; and we need to hear more about this unusual occurrence.
Furthermore, my own personal experience is that for many years, the two persons that many of us can reach easily, and who return calls were Comrades Amna Ally, Basil Williams and to a lesser extent Winston Felix.
One of the problems we have had is a concern that while holding ministerial positions, some ministers are difficult to reach.
My experience is shared by many comrades I have spoken to.
A concern I have is that I am bewildered by the inclusion of the likes of Nicolette Henry on our Parliamentary list.
Which area was she assigned to? And do the results indicate she has done strenuous political work? I stress strenuous political work.
This young lady made a mess of the Golden Jubilee Independence Celebration in 2016.
Every event was poorly executed; the worst of course being the State Dinner, where if you go the cheapest restaurant or cook-shop, you will be served warm food, and cutlery that didn’t seem to come from a poor-shop.
Imagine a State Dinner with cheap plastic knives, forks and spoons, with the Diplomatic Community sniggering.
Why should we be surprised when these people treated us with such disdain?
I hope that corrective measures and a constant flow of acceptable information is passed on to supporters like myself, so that we can face a country and the arch-enemies with our heads held high.
Finally, the Party needs to find folks who can demand respect from friend and foe, as we did in the 60s, when Congress Place was like a formidable outpost.
We need to encourage the likes of Aubrey Norton, Christopher Jones, Randolph Critchlow, Ganesh Mahipal, Kevon Lorrimer, etc. who displayed great courage and sacrifice pre and post-Election Day 2020.
The late Lorry Alexander would have quipped, “Ting na regula!”
