AS the fight against the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) rages on, the need for critical medical supplies remains important and health authorities have opened bids for qualified suppliers to provide emergency medicines and supplies.
The Ministry of Health said it is desirous of obtaining bids from qualified suppliers to supply emergency medicines and supplies which are readily available in country.
A complete list of items required and instructions for bid submission can be obtained from the Procurement Department of the Ministry of Health at Lot 1 Brickdam, Georgetown or via email at procurementhealth3@gmail.com. Deadline for bid submission is August 26, 2020 at 16:00hrs.
Those medical supplies will not only be used in the fight against COVID-19, but to also treat other diseases and ailments, which are sometimes overlooked by the public because of the coronavirus pandemic. The areas identified for supplies are pharmaceuticals, medical supplies, radiology supplies and dental supplies.
According to the World Health Organisation (WHO), COVID-19 is an infectious disease caused by a newly-discovered coronavirus. Most people, who fall sick with COVID-19, will experience mild to moderate symptoms and recover without special treatment. There are, however, vulnerable groups such as persons with underlying conditions and elderly patients, who may develop the severe forms of the disease.
