THE Georgetown Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI) and the Mayor and Councillors of the City of Georgetown (M&CC) renewed their Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Tuesday.

The simple signing ceremony took place at City Hall on Tuesday.
President of the GCCI, Mr. Nicholas Deygoo-Boyer, and Mayor of Georgetown, His Worship, Pandit Ubraj Narine, signed the MoU on behalf of their respective organisations.

The MoU is intended to strengthen cooperation between the two entities as they seek to collaborate on municipal and corporate development within the boundaries of the city.

The MoU stipulates that the GCCI and the M&CC will cooperate on several thematic areas, namely, general rates, public security within the city, building codes, building bylaws, safety regulations for construction procedures, infrastructure development, environment (inclusive of garbage collection and public health), public education, information sharing, training and capacity building. The GCCI and the M&CC have also agreed to meet once every two months. The MoU will be enforced from the day of its signing and shall be valid for a period of one year.
