THE Ministry of Communities (MOC) has donated a $34.8M garbage truck to the Georgetown Municipality.

The garbage truck donated by the Ministry of Communities

During a small handover ceremony at the City Hall on Wednesday, Minister within the Ministry of Communities, with responsibility for Housing, Hon. Annette Ferguson, noted that the garbage disposal will improve the waste collection in and around the city. This donation is the second garbage truck the Georgetown Mayor and City Council (M&CC) has received, with last year’s truck being worth $45M.

In her remarks, Minister Ferguson noted that from the time the coalition assumed office, “the Ministry of Communities has been working closely with the local organs to build their capacity in human resources and providing equipment, and this simple ceremony is a testimony to what the ministry is committed to doing.” His Worship, Mayor Ubraj Narine, thanked the ministry noting that the municipality has benefitted from “tremendous support from the government through the Ministry of Communities.”
