THE woman who was struck down in a fatal accident Sunday evening at Success, East Coast Demerara, is yet to be identified. The woman was said to have been crossing the roadway when she was struck by a Toyota motorcar bearing registration number PKK 9991.

When contacted, Police Commander for ‘C’ Division Royston Andries-Junor, told the Guyana Chronicle that no one has since come forward to identify the woman who was killed in the accident; however, the driver who was apprehended at the scene still remains in custody assisting with the investigation.

The commander in an appeal is asking anyone with information as to who the woman might be to contact the Beterverwagting Police Station.

The accident occurred around 18:00hrs. According to an eyewitness, he was in his home when he heard a loud scream and when he rushed to his verandah, he saw a woman “flying in the air.”

Shortly after the police, along with an ambulance, were called to the scene; the responding paramedics pronounced the woman dead on the spot.
