POLICE are investigating the brutal murder of Zahir Ali, 40, a fisherman, who was allegedly killed by two neighbours at Mosquito Hall, Unity, Mahaica, East Coast Demerara, after he confronted them about stoning his house on Wednesday.

Ali called “Bobby” of Lot 78 Mosquito Hall, Unity was killed around 19:20 hours, allegedly by two males, a teenager and an adult. The suspects are in custody and are assisting with investigation.

Enquiries disclosed that the Ali, a father of four and the suspects are neighbours but were not on speaking terms.

The suspects reportedly stoned Ali’s house and he confronted them on the road where a heated argument ensued between them. The two suspects allegedly pulled him into their yard and beat him.

Shortly after, Ali was seen fleeing the premises, his body drenched in blood. He was taken to the Mahaicony Cottage Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
The body was examined and a wound was seen to his left side chest and another to the abdomen.

Meanwhile, the Guyana Chronicle understands that the two suspects, a few months ago, went into Ali’s yard and assaulted him.

That matter was reported to the Mahaica police and the two suspects were placed on a bond. Ali’s family was frequently tormented by the suspects.
