THE No. 52-74 Neighborhood Democratic Council (NDC) in Corentyne, Berbice, has implemented several measures to support the national effort to stop the spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19)
These actions take effect from April 1, 2020. The NDC has advised all residents to be indoors by 19:00 hrs.
Dining at bars and restaurants is prohibited. These venues should only provide take away services and must be closed at 16:00hrs.
All other business entities are to be closed at 19:00hrs and pharmacies at 18:00 hrs.
To ensure proper hygiene and hand-washing practices, business owners are asked to install hand-washing station at the entrances of their businesses.
The NDC has also advised that all religious public gatherings are limited to three persons and a social distance of three to six feet must be maintained.
Further, the Council is asking residents to report any “backtrack” or illegal activities in the district.
The No. 52-74 is calling for all citizens to give their fullest cooperation. To date, Guyana has recorded 19 confirmed cases of the virus with four deaths.
Globally, the number of confirmed cases stands at 823,626, while the number of deaths is now 40,598. In the region of the Americas, there are 188,751 confirmed cases and 3,400 deaths. (DPI)
