Security guard accused of manslaughter granted bail

DEVON Harris, a 40-year-old security guard of Friendship, East Bank Demerara, was, on Friday, March 20, 2020, granted $200,000 bail by Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan, having been charged with manslaughter.

Harris appeared before the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court and was not required to plead to the indictable charge, when it was read to him.

The charge alleged that, on Wednesday, March 4, 2020, at Blackwater Landing, Konowaruk Region eight, Harris unlawfully killed Akeem Ceaser.

Chief Magistrate McLennan granted Harris $200,000 bail and ordered that he must report to the Criminal Investigation Department Headquarters every other Friday at 09:00 hours, until the completion of the case.
