Larceny accused granted bail

ANDREW ALVIN of Parfait Harmony, was, on Tuesday, March 17, 2020, placed on $160,000 bail by Magistrate Clive Nurse, at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court, having been charged with Larceny from the person.

The charge alleged that, on Tuesday, December 17, 2019, at Stabroek Market, a public place in the city of Georgetown, he stole, from Gooldene Gill, a yellow metal cricket band valued at $270,000.

When Alvin was read the charge, he pleaded guilty.
Magistrate Nurse granted Alvin $160,000 bail under the condition that he repays Gill in cash for the band which he stole. Alvin was ordered to fulfill this obligation by Friday, March 20, 2020. He was warned that, if he fails to fulfill this obligation, he would be sentenced to 18 months in prison.

The matter was adjourned until Friday, March 20, 2020.
