Woman who chopped husband to death charged with manslaughter

DHANMATTIE Seenarine, 52, called “Sisto” or “Nurse”, was charged with the offence of manslaughter when she appeared before Magistrate Alex Moore at the Number 51 Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday.

After the charge was read, she was granted bail in the sum of $150,000. However, it is unclear whether she was able to post bail.

Seenarine is accused of chopping her husband, Anthony Permaul, 43, called “Banks”, a labourer of Clifton Settlement, East Berbice, Corentyne. Permaul reportedly died between February 25 and 26 from the cop wounds.

On the day in question, the couple was imbibing and an argument ensued between them. Persaud allegedly punched his wife and in retaliation she chopped him on the left hand.

He was taken to the Port Mourant Hospital the following morning where he was treated but was later transferred to the New Amsterdam Hospital where he succumbed.  The matter was transferred to the Whim Magistrate’s Court for March 19 for report and fixtures.
