A VENEZUELAN motorcyclist succumbed to his injuries in the wee hours of the morning of Sunday, February 15, 2020. He was involved in a motor vehicle accident on the De Kenderen Public Road, East Bank Essequibo (EBE).
Dead is Veijay Jesus Idrogo, 39, of Meten-Meer-Zorg, West Coast of Demerara (WCD). He died at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation after being transferred from the West Demerara Regional Hospital.

According to the police, on Saturday about 03:00hrs motorcar PWW 8179, driven by a 39-year-old resident of Leonora, WCD, was proceeding west along the southern carriageway of the road and was negotiating a turn. On the turn was motorcyclist Veijay Jesus Idrogo riding CJ 4677 which was proceeding east along the northern carriageway. He reportedly lost control and collided with the right side front of the car.
The motorcyclist who sustained injuries was taken to the Leonora Cottage Hospital in a semi-conscious condition where he was treated and transferred to the West Demerara Regional Hospital. On Sunday, he was transferred to the GPHC where he died at around 05:00hrs. An autopsy is expected to be conducted this Wednesday.
Police said that the driver, who passed a breathalyzer test, was, on Sunday, released on station bail. In an interview with this publication, Idrogo’s sister, Ammy Idrogo, said her brother’s body was badly damaged and most of his internal organs were crushed in the aftermath of the crash.

Upon visiting the West Demerara Regional Hospital at 06:30 hrs Sunday morning, she explained that her brother was eventually transferred to GPHC where a doctor related the damage that occurred externally and internally on his body.
“They did plenty of x-trays, his lungs were damaged, his skull was fractured, his legs were broken, his pelvis and hip bones were damaged, and his internal organs were crushed,” the sister said with tears in her eyes.
When she got the opportunity to have the last few words with her brother, she said upon inquiry she asked if he consumed any alcoholic beverages, to which he responded ‘no’. “When I asked him if he crashed into the car, he said no, he was standing up on the road getting ready to go on the bike to come home, then a car crashed into him, the car then reversed and rolled over him while he was on the ground, then the car rolled over him again,” the distraught woman said. The woman explained that her brother then related that the driver appeared to be intoxicated while there was a female inside of the vehicle that witnessed the accident.
