MAGISTRATE Faith McGusty, on Wednesday, January 29, 2020, remanded a 21-year-old man to prison on a robbery charge.
Joshua Perreira of Charlestown appeared at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court and denied the charge, when it was read to him.
Particulars of the charge stated that, on January 17, 2020, at Saffon Street, Charlestown, Georgetown, while being in the company of another, and armed with a cutlass, he robbed Patricia Abrahams of a phone valued at $65,000, and several gold rings and cash valued at $331,000.
Police prosecutor objected to bail being granted to Perreira based on the nature of the offence and the penalty attached.
Magistrate McGusty, after listening to the prosecutor, remanded Perreira to prison and adjourned the matter until February 15, 2020.
Days ago, Mark Gravesande, 19, of Dairy, West Bank Demerara, was also charged for the same offence and was remanded to prison.
