ACTING Chief Magistrate Sherdel Isaacs-Marcus, on Friday, January 24, 2020, remanded a 25-year-old taxi driver to prison for possession of an illegal firearm.
Terrence Primo of Diamond appeared at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court and denied the charge, when it was read to him.

Particulars of the charge stated that, on January 22, 2020, at Leopold Street, Georgetown, he had one .38 revolver, without being the holder of a firearm licence.
Primo told the court that, “the gun wasn’t on me but it was in the vehicle, I didn’t know it was there”.

Police prosecutor objected to bail being granted to Primo based on the seriousness of the offence and the penalty attached.
The prosecutor also told the court that, on the day in question, around 13:50 hours, police, acting on information, went to Leopold Street where they saw motor car PTT 7817 parked and Primo acting in a suspicious way.

The police then approached the car and asked to conduct a search. Nothing was found on Primo, but when the police searched under the driver’s seat the said gun was found. When he was told of the allegation he told the police “I am sorry please for another chance”.
Primo was arrested and charged.

Magistrate Isaacs-Marcus refused bail and remanded Primo to prison until January 31, 2020.
