RINCON FC stormed to a 6-1 win against Jungle Boys in their opener of the 2019 Atkinson Brothers Five-A-Side Floodlight Football competition, on Saturday night at the Kumaka Recreational Ground in Santa Rosa, Region One.

Six games were played after the teams (Seniors, the U-15s, the U-17s and the Females), participated in a march-past.

Rincon FC were very active in their clash, creating chances and firing a barrage of shots from all angles, and although the Jungle Boys’ keeper made a few good saves, the Rincon footballers were able to dominate.

Issac Williams and Vishnu Williams fired in two goals each, while there were one each for Lester Fredericks and Ronald Henry.
Ronaldo LaRose scored the lone consolation strike for Jungle Boys.
The event, which had a fair amount of spectators, kicked off with the Atkinson Brothers Football Club defeating the Mighty Warriors 2-0 in an U-15 clash after Xavi Atkinson struck a double.

Eric Campbell (left) and Evander Daniels (two goals) scored for Rising Sons in their 3-0 win.

In game two, the Rising Sons, led by two goals from Evander Daniels and one from Eric Campbell, were able to ease past the Mighty Warriors 3-0 in an U-17 clash. In the other U-17 clash, the ABFC defeated Rising Sons 2-0.

In the lone female game of the evening, national women’s footballer, Annalisa Vincent, was on target to hand the ABFC a 1-0 win against All Star Blazers.
Vincent, who scored three goals in the 2018 final for the defending champions, Silver Sand Football Club, opted to play with the ABFC side this year after the seven-time champion club failed to field a team.

Along with Vincent, goalie Tiffany Chapelle also joined the ABFC side for this year’s four-team female battle.

Meanwhile, in the penultimate game of the night, Young Guns defeated Universal Jaguars 2-1.
The ninth edition of the games will culminate on Boxing Day after nightly action this week. Christmas day will be an off day.
