A New Amsterdam motorcyclist is dead, while another is recuperating at the hospital following an accident in the vicinity of Main Street and Charles Place, New Amsterdam on Sunday afternoon.
Dead is Deon Granville of Lot 59 Stanleytown, New Amsterdam, while the injured is Roderick Ageday, of Lot 57 Stanleytown. Ageday is a heavy-duty operator, employed by Home Designs and Associates.

According to information, Granville was seen on several instances riding his new motorcycle at a fast rate of speed along the main thoroughfare. It was during his last ride that he swerved into the path of Roderick Ageday, who was riding his motorcycle whilst returning home from work.
Following the collision, both men were taken to the New Amsterdam Hospital, where Ageday underwent emergency surgery after sustaining injuries to his abdomen, arms and feet. According to medical sources, Granville suffered massive head injuries as he was not wearing a helmet. Further, efforts to tranquilise him failed due to the level of narcotic in his blood stream, the Guyana Chronicle was told. Just before 21:00hrs, Granville was transferred to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation, but died while receiving treatment. Ageday remains hospitalised.
