THE police are investigating a fatal incident which occurred on Saturday around 19:00hrs on the Ituni trail involving motorcar PPP 651, owned and driven by a 47-year-old mechanic of Kwakwani Park, Berbice River and motor cycle CG 8386, owned and driven by Godfrey Willis of Goat Farm, Ituni.
Enquiries disclosed that the motorcar PPP 651 was proceeding east on the northern side of the trail, while the motor cycle was proceeding in the opposite direction on the eastern side with no head lamp on and collided with the front left side of the car. As a result of the impact, the cyclist fell onto the road and suffered injuries about his body, the police said in a release.
He was taken to the Ituni Health Centre where he was seen and examined by a Medex on duty, who pronounced him dead on arrival.
The driver of the car is in police custody assisting with an investigation.
