FIVE persons were arrested, on Thursday, after three unlicensed handguns and 25 live rounds of ammunition and a small quantity of suspected cannabis were found in First Street, Agricola, East Bank Demerara.

The intelligence-led operation was under the command of a Senior Superintendent. The five persons, inclusive of two females, one of whom obstructed the ranks in the execution of their duty, were arrested and are assisting with the investigation.

Meanwhile, police ranks stationed in Regional Police Division 4(a) (Agricola-Cummings Lodge), acting on intelligence, visited Aubrey Barker Road, South Ruimveldt where another firearm was seized.

Reports indicate that about 10:45hrs on Thursday, police conducted a search on a male; an unlicensed pistol, with two live rounds, was found concealed on his person. The twenty-year-old unemployed suspect of Perry Street, Tucville, Georgetown, was promptly arrested and is being processed for court.
