LOCAL golfer Ravindra Harry stormed a star-studded field yesterday to clinch the 2019 Demerara Distillers Limited (DDL) El Dorado Rum golf title.

Harry beat off a strong line-up of pros to walk away with the crown after finishing with a best Gross of 83 and his Net-winning score of 67 in Flight 10-18.

Among those who starred with the club in the 3 Flights, were reigning Guyana Open Champ Avinash Persaud who ended with a Gross 73 and Net 71 and Jaipaul Suknanan Gross 80/Net 71.

It was a good showing by the local fraternity who came out as usual to support the weekly, sponsored in-house Open, which featured another highly-competitive day of golf at the Lusignan Course.

The Open Individual awards were copped by Robin Tiwari who won Nearest to the Pin, Alfred Mentore who captured the award for the Longest Drive and the champ Persaud who ended with the Best Gross of 73.

Following the conclusion of the tournament, Lusignan Golf Club (LGC) president Aleem Hussain thanked DDL for its annual support of the sport which, he said, continues to excel with each edition.

Meanwhile, El Dorado Brands Manager Maria Munroe shared similar sentiments regarding her company’s relationship with the LGC as well as their love for golf.

She thanked the golfers for their overwhelming support yesterday and promised more backing for the sport in the future.
