Thousands of persons took to the streets to celebrate the festival and take in the wonderfully floats, all of which depicted the significance of the festival.

As per normal, the grand motorcade began at the Shri Krishna Mandir in Campbellville and from there, the decorated floats made their way along Sandy Babb Street, on the journey to the La Bonne Intention (LBI) Community Centre Ground.

All of the elements were represented during the night’s proceedings, including the sounds of tassa drums which could be heard from the floats as they made their way to the LBI Ground.

The spectators who lined the roads to see the floats were mesmerised by not only the music, but also the various depictions of Mother Lakshmi, the goddess of light and prosperity with whom the festival is most associated.
