THIS week NAREI in Focus will promote the Charity Plant Nursery. This facility is strategically situated at Lot 12 Amazon, Charity Public Road, Region Two to satisfy the needs of farmers on the Essequibo Coast and certain Region One communities such as Moruca.

Through this nursery, the National Agricultural Research and Extension Institute ensures that other crop farmers operating in Pomeroon also have access to quality planting materials. Currently, there are 10,000 seedlings including soursop, Carambola, passion fruit, pomegranate, cherry, rough lemon, and sugar apple in stock for sale.

From Monday to Friday, the nursery’s supervisor, three labourers and two security personnel provide quality customer service. The 1,500ft nursery is always neat and clean. The plants are well taken care of.
