K& K Service Station, located at Lot 1 Plantation Unity, East Coast Demerara, is a business established more than eight years ago and which employs about 30 villagers while servicing people passing through.

According to its Manager Rondie Williams, the entity is privately owned by the Nauths, who are Guyanese residing overseas and they have made significant contributions to the development of this country.

The Nauths also operate H. Nauth and Sons Civil Engineering Contractors business and also employs dozens of people who reside on the East Coast corridor.
K& K Service Station has the interest of the people in mind and is always trying to provide a satisfactory service for customers.

Williams told the Pepperpot Magazine that the establishment also has a convenient store and the kitchen area which houses a snackette.

He disclosed that the place attracts a lot of people passing through and it is the ideal spot where one can get a cold beverage, a coffee, burgers, roti, duck, chicken, mutton curries, fries, chips, ice cream and many more foods.

The kitchen and convenient store are opened from 05:30hrs to up until 00:30hrs on Sundays, but closes earlier during the week.

“This is a point where people stop to recharge so to speak, be it gasoline, or a snack or to buy oil for their vehicle, because it is a place where you can get a variety of things under one roof and it is also affordable,” he said.

Williams added that villagers can make use of the late openings at nights and would make their necessary purchases, because they are opened late when the corner shops close.
He stated that the gas station operates on a 24-hour basis, as such, it never closes. They have implemented a shift system for pump attendants, who are form the village.
Williams explained that they don’t have a long commute and they can get home easily after a late shift.

The business offers free air for travellers and it has a restroom and comfortable gazebos with tables and chairs; these provide the perfect spot for a meal or a quick snack for those passing through.

“The people of this village are very cooperative and supportive of this business, because we have close relations and we also give back to the community in many ways, because we aid the development of the people and village,” he said.

He explained that for this Navratri season (a Hindu festival), they will sponsor nights at the Mandir in which the entire village can come out and enjoy a delicious seven-curry meal and other goodies.

Williams related that donations are also made to schools and other organisations within the village.

The manager, however, would like an ICT hub for schoolchildren and a gym.
He reported that they are in the process of expanding and a pharmacy will be added to their services with an in-house, qualified pharmacist.

Williams stated that residents made the request and they want to fulfil such a request, all for their convenience.

He noted that K & K Gas Station also has a section for Lotto Blast Games, which serves as a recreational park.
